Background:
Having once survived The Tournament previously, thanks to the now-turned bartender Dameon Dredd, he intends to participate again, despite the growing concerns voiced by his fiance Chow Ling Shue, known later as Emerald, that few have survived. She knows of his growing desire to earn the clan's honor but knows that duty comes first. In her mind that includes the duty to his love for her.

Purpose of entering The Tournament:
Sho Lin returns to fulfill his mission: assassinate the outsider now known as Master from leading their hated enemies the Ki-Char into victory over his family clan, the Ki-Da.
